Definition : Pedigree analysis is a method, through which, we can study the record of the occurrence of a trait in several generations of a human family.

It is quite easy to identify same forms of inheritance from the study of pedigrees.

Uses :  Pedigree analysis is useful in a scrually reproducing organism where the number of offspring is small. It provides information to the couples inefarding the danger of certain genetic defect which might run in their family.

If more than one individual in a family is affected with the disease, then it is assumed that the disease is inherited. Hence, for analyzing the depth of inherited disease, pedigree is drawn, showing a diagrammatic relationship of family members via symbols and lines that will represent the genetic relationship.
